Spring is in full swing, so let’s take a moment to appreciate Mother Earth this week. Earth Day is April 22nd, and there’s no better time to get out and get your hands dirty while cleaning up and going GREEN! Whether you’re prepping to plant your garden, picking up and perking up a local park, or simply digging around and “digging” the earth beneath your feet…celebrate Earth Day in your own special way!

Even here in the desert, it’s easy to rise and shine with a raised bed garden full of fresh herbs, and hardy veggies. Planning your planting with the seasons guarantees a bountiful harvest year-round. Seed starters are available from your local garden center, and with a little love + lots of sunshine…your green thumb can shine this Earth Day! Take a sneak peek at a sample raised bed herb harvest here:

If your thumb isn’t quite so green, but you’re still looking to beautify your surroundings…plan a park clean up within your community. It’s rewarding to renew a polished look to local parks, and everyone can join from all ages to perk up a go-to outdoor getaway within the neighborhood. Looking to keep it simple and let the kids get down and dirty? “Baking” mud-pies can be a fun way to make a mess while learning about the soil, what grows from the soil, water conservation, and how planting and “playing” in the dirt can make a BIG difference. Mud pie, anyone? 😉

Go forth and *DIG* THE EARTH! Reduce, reuse, recycle…and have a little fun in the sun! How do you plan to get down and dirty while keeping it green this Earth Day?
