3P is all about the joy of simple, inexpensive gift giving, entertaining, events and traditions…appreciating the simple pleasures of life without stress and additional work in our busy lives – taking a minute to stop and smell the roses…or should I say poinsettias. So to kick off the “first 12 days of December”, all of us here at Practically Perfect Planner will be sharing our personal favorite “Holiday Happy”. Okay, I’ll go first: Years...

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I went to my friend Jen’s to drop something off.  I took a peek at my friend’s traditional dining area and the table was half set. So, I said to Jen; “Do you want me to finish this for you?” Jen replied, “No, I have to start over because I picked up some unique glass sculptures and I want those to be the focus. Big surprise, I replied, “Jen, your initial plan is beautiful + traditional with items...

Comments Off on 3P’s Turkey Day Picks and Thanksgiving How-To’s:

You already saw how we created our “Thanksgiving on the Fly”, but with so many great magazine articles and Pinterest posts for Turkey Day, we couldn’t resist sharing a few that we loved. Every year, we head over to my brother & sister-in-law’s house for Thanksgiving, and they make an incredible spread. We show up with our clan, broccoli casserole (a family favorite we’ve been making for years) and a gift in hand. Below is our recipe! In the meantime, here are some...

Comments Off on Lighting Up the Holidays: a DIY Craft and Gift Idea!

You’ve read about gifts we have given, however what we haven’t talked about is how many creative and thoughtful gifts I receive in return. My friend Jana is also gift-friendly and comes up with these immensely creative ideas that we will be featuring from time to time on Practically Perfect Planner. When you “Event It”…(a 3P term) many times you are not creating the original idea, but putting your own spin on things that individualizes and personalizes. When Jana and...

Wow, what a busy month we’re having here at 3P! This weekend alone was jam-packed with planning and pulling off the Las Vegas Operation Christmas Child Packing Party! What an incredible event we had. After planning and saving all year, collecting items, scouring sales, gathering volunteers…we were ready for our packing party. We managed to get 3,368 boxes packed in about 6 hours, Woohoo! It was an emotional experience in a really joyful way to see everyone come together to...

Comments Off on 3P Thanksgiving on the Fly: Part Two!

So, with our table finished… …We headed out to our Operation Christmas Child Countdown event, worked a half-day, and came home to get all of the side dishes prepped for our Thanksgiving. The 3P team had a great time in the kitchen together, got everything done in less than 2 hours, and relaxed the rest of the night. When we got up the next morning, Brenda and Chris went to church after popping the seasoned turkey in the oven and starting the gravy. John...

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner! In our family this year, we are fortunate enough to celebrate TWO Thanksgivings, thanks to half of us being Canadians. Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, and it was perfect timing for us to have some fun with it. For the holidays, our family splits the big dinner responsibilities…meaning, Chris’ brother Matt and his wife Shari handle Thanksgiving and we do Christmas dinner at our house. We wanted to...

Comments Off on Trunk or Treat Simplified + How to Save for Next Year’s Halloween Festivities!

For the past few years, we’ve been an active part of local “Trunk or Treat” events for our local community here in Henderson. We participate with Life Springs Christian Church, and it’s always a great time for local kids and their families. So, what is “Trunk or Treat”? Trunk or Treat is a community event that provides a safe, well lit, supervised and fun place for young children to trick or treat! Everyone gathers together, sometimes at an elementary school, community...

As everyone is knee-deep in the festivities today, I also think that today is another very important day. October 31st is the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So, today is a reminder for me to book my yearly mammogram screening. My life long friend & I always remind each other, and today she is a Breast Cancer Survivor. I am honoring her today: So, wouldn’t it be great if: We make our own appointment if needed Remind a special girlfriend, too! Here’s...

Comments Off on Great Halloween Treats For Grandparents!

If you are lucky enough to have a favorite senior in your life like we are, we’ve got a great idea for a Halloween treat for them. Our Nana is in an assisted living apartment, and we thought it would be fun to take her over some treats for her to share with others in her community. People in senior care homes (like the ones by Chelsea Senior Living) tend to have activities scheduled for them. It is fun to see all the residents participate in such activities. Maybe nana might...
