My lifetime girlfriends are a constant source of joy, I really don’t know how to say I any other way. I am a gift-giving junkie…always on the gift lookout, are you?
Today I am having a birthday lunch with my girlfriend Marilyn, who literally took me under her wing almost 20 years ago and was my very first friend here in Las Vegas. Since we are both October babies, we have a tradition of meeting for a birthday lunch in the middle of the two dates.
It’s not about the gift, but about the time we give to each other that counts.
Here is a simple yet uniquely packaged ‘gifty’ idea that can be whipped together in a snap – I keep a stock of cute, affordable personalized items so everything is on hand when needed. I know Marilyn loves candles, tea, and potpourri…(just like ME) so by picking a few cute pieces I’d already bought ahead of time, it was easy to make a great little gift.
Happy Birthday, Marilyn!
P.S. This perfectly October colored ceramic bowl was picked up months ago from Von’s on clearance for around $2.90! I thought it was way more fun and useful than plain old gift wrap. And why not make the card “scream” *BIRTHDAY* with a party noisemaker? I even was able to use some super cute leftover green netting to arrange the items quickly and with some style!
The easiest way to make a quick and beautiful birthday gift:
- Shop the sales! You never know when you might find something great in June, for a birthday in October!
- When you see bulk items you know your girlfriends will love, pick them up! You can give the gift of a nice cup of tea for pennies!
- Save and re-use pretty ribbon, raffia, and netting to make your gift really pop.
- Nothing says *party* like some confetti or a cute party favor on your card.
Do you have any go-to ideas for your girlfriends? How about birthday traditions? We’d love to hear about them.
