Spectacular Bridal Advice from Experts at Bridal Spectacular

Being a Las Vegas event planner for the past 20 years has had it’s challenges but one of the spectacular perks are the relationships we have gained along the way.  When first starting out in Las Vegas, I approached Debbie Hansen, owner and creator of Bridal Spectacular (the largest, best, and longest running Bridal Show in Vegas) and asked if we could meet…as I had produced many bridal shows in Canada.  After a long lunch and much brainstorming…I would find myself being welcomed into the Bridal Spectacular team. Debbie has also become a treasured friend and business mentor.

Throughout the years, our companies have worked together in many different areas. We have the pleasure of coordinating media and promotions twice a year for the biggest and most successful bridal show in Vegas – and even though I have been married for many years, the excitement of over 150 quality Bridal Exhibitors, professional fashion shows, and yes – eating cake…always makes for days I enjoy.

If you just got engaged, here are a few tips from Bridal Spectacular to get you started if you’re about one year to 10 months out:

1 Year Out:

  1. Announce your engagement
  2. Order your wedding rings
  3. Meet with both sets of parents (if they are paying) to discuss type of wedding
  4. Plan your wedding budget together
  5. Attend a quality bridal show – ask your friends which one they recommend
  6. Choose your wedding and reception site

10 Months Out:

  1. Consider hiring a wedding consultant and meet to get started with them early
  2. Start scrapbooking your wedding memory album – you don’t want to leave out the fine details
  3. If you are having a church wedding, meet with your clergy
  4. Choose your attendants
  5. Shop for the brides’ dress and order it early!
  6. Plan color scheme and start an inspiration board of all the ideas you like.
  7. Shop for bridesmaid dresses. Order them as soon as possible, no later than 4 months prior to the wedding.
  8. Start your wedding web site
