I don’t want to sound like the Grinch, but I find it a little hard to get into the “Christmas spirit” until we’ve all had a chance to first celebrate Thanksgiving together. Immediately after that though, as we are fortunate to usually have all or most of the kids here for that weekend, that makes Friday and/or Saturday perfect time to start in on one of my favorite first “Holiday Happy” things to do – put up the outside Christmas lights!
It’s usually myself and one or both of the boys outside making an “outside the Man Cave” family project out of it. Good time together, easy to do but takes a little time to do it right. This year, Jessi came out and helped too, plus of course couldn’t help but take a few pictures…
Nice few hours all together, and the best part was going out as soon as it got dark that Friday night and plug it all in (a true Griswold experience, as we love to joke about!)
We’ve gone all LED multi-colored icicle lights, and man are they vibrant! Of course just when we thought we were done, Brenda decided the front yard needed red holiday bows on the lampposts… Back to work, but it all looks great at the end.
Anyway, Fun to just take in the sights together and my way to get into the Christmas spirit!

My “Holiday Happy” will be heading to craft stores (online and brick and mortar) to gather festive goody containers for holiday baked cookies, candies and other treats! I’m always amazed at the variety and make for a nice presentation for neighbors, friends and family!
I love when we buy some cute crafty Christmas things to package gifts up too! Especially when we get to wrap up our Christmas cookies. It’s a lot of fun. Thanks, Lauren!
Looking forward to my Holiday Happy in the form of quality time spent with my family, some time on the ranch with the horses and lots of Christmas caroling! Also checking back with Practically Perfect Planner for creative ideas.
Hi Lizette! I bet your Christmas caroling is amazing. Can’t wait to hear you sing again soon. Merry Christmas!
