Wow, what a busy month we’re having here at 3P! This weekend alone was jam-packed with planning and pulling off the Las Vegas Operation Christmas Child Packing Party! What an incredible event we had. After planning and saving all year, collecting items, scouring sales, gathering volunteers…we were ready for our packing party. We managed to get 3,368 boxes packed in about 6 hours, Woohoo! It was an emotional experience in a really joyful way to see everyone come together to get all of those boxes packed. To put time and energy and love into a cause you truly care for is what giving back is all about. It was such a privilege to be a part of such an amazing team with Jamie, Brenda, hundreds of volunteers, and everyone involved that helps all year long. There was truly “no I in team” with our crew!

And now, today starts the kick off of National Collection Week…11/18 – 11/25! What can you do? Pack shoeboxes! It’s never too late! One box = one more child!
Now back to our packing party: We packed each box with care, using the items that we knew were needed for each box. Every child will receive school supplies, hygiene kits, small and large toys, a stuffed animal to hug, clothing items, and candy. From the OCC website, you can also learn how to pack a box, all of the items that are approved and needed for each box, and where you can drop your box off.

Every year we hear incredible stories of children who got EXACTLY the box they needed. Children with specific health needs that were provided just the right items in their hygiene kit, children who have never tasted candy getting something that really brings a smile to their face, a child desperately in need of school supplies getting the right tools they need. You can follow your box by donating $7 for shipping online, and actually be able to track and follow where your box goes. Last year, ours went to Peru!
We’re so thrilled with the work all of the volunteers have done, and it’s been such an honor to be a part of this team. We’re looking forward to a super successful Collection Week. Last year, Las Vegas and the surrounding areas packed over 15,300 boxes! Let’s beat that number this year! Have you ever packed a shoebox for OCC before?
